Participation Culture Boat in the Amsterdam Canal Parade

A total of 21 different cultural institutions and organizations were represented on the Culture Boat , which processed with other vessels in the Dutch capital’s festive Canal Parade on Saturday 4 August. Together these institutions formed a splendid cross-section of the rich cultural life in Amsterdam and the Netherlands. The boat showed that culture fuels tolerance, respect and integration – and is therefore essential in Amsterdam. The theme for 2012, ‘Culture Boat… the beat goes on’, was given added emphasis by the band Segura and the dancing passengers wearing black. The Canal Parade could be followed worldwide in a live internet stream.
