The Van Gogh Mile

Art route through Amsterdam

From 29 September 2012 Amsterdam’s streets were enlivened by the Van Gogh Mile, an art route specially designed for visitors faced by the closed doors of the Van Gogh Museum, which had temporarily moved its collection during renovation to the Hermitage Amsterdam. Under the direction of artist Henk Schut the Artery Foundation had developed this unique walking route concept for the Van Gogh Museum. The highpoint of the Van Gogh Mile was the spectacular ‘red line’, a 2.2 kilometre red cord which literally connected the Van Gogh Museum and the Hermitage Amsterdam where visitors could view the presentation Vincent.
